  • To reduce magnetic flux density to zero by applying a reverse (coercive) magnetizing force. Commonly referred to as demagnetizing. (CSC-STD-005-85;; NCSC-WA-001-85;)
  • To apply a variable, aternating current (AC) field for the purpose of demagnetizing magnetic recording media. The process involved increases the AC field gradually from zero to some maximum value and back to zero, which leaves a very low residue of magnetic induction on the media. (OPNAVINST 5239. 1A;; AR 380-380;; FIPS PUB 39;)
  • To demagnetize, thereby removing magnetic memory. (JCS PUB 6-07)
  • To reduce magnetic flux density to zero by applying a reverse magnetizing field. Also referred to as demagnetizing. (NCSC-TG-004-88)
